Joining us

Alfa-kassan is an unemployment fund that is not tied to a trade union. You can join us regardless of your occupation. You must have previously worked in Sweden to be able to join Alfa-kassan. After 12 months of membership you can receive a higher unemployment benefit. It costs 150 SEK per month to be a member.

Good to know about joining Alfa-kassan

  • Unlike other unemployment insurance funds, you can receive the basic benefit even if you are not a member.
  • It is not enough to be a member to receive benefits. In order to receive benefits, you must meet the conditions and submit an application for benefits.
  • After 12 months as a member, you may be entitled to the income based benefit. If you have not been a member for at least 12 months, you can only apply for the basic benefit, which is lower than the income based benefit.
  • Your membership ends without notice the month you turn 66.
