Alfa-kassan is an unemployment insurance fund that is not tied to a trade union. You can join us regardless of your occupation. You must have previously worked in Sweden to be able to join Alfa-kassan. After 12 months of membership, you can receive higher unemployment benefits. It costs 170 SEK per month to be a member.

Good to know about joining Alfa-kassan

• Unlike other unemployment insurance funds, you can receive the basic benefits even if you are not a member.
• Whether you are a member or not, you must fulfill the requirements and follow the steps in our checklist to receive benefits.
• After 12 months as a member, you may be entitled to the income based benefit, which is higher than the basic benefits.
• If you do not have an electronic ID, please contact our customer service to become a member.
• You get a 25% tax deduction on the monthly fee. The deduction is automatic and you get the money back in your annual tax return.
• Your membership ends without notice the month you turn 66.
