FAQ about membership

1. 1 What does it mean to be a member of Alfa-kassan?

   Being a member means that you may be entitled to the income-based benefit, after being a member for at least 12 months. As a member, you pay a monthly fee of SEK 170.

   If you are not a member or have been a member shorter than 12 months, you can only apply for the basic benefit.

2. 2 How do I apply to join?

   You apply with your e-identification on the page Join Alfa-kassan. If you do not have an e-identification, contact our customer service and they will help you.

3. 3 Who can join Alfa-kassan?

   We welcome everyone, regardless of profession or industry. To be eligible for membership, you must have worked in Sweden at some time.

4. 4 How do I apply for withdrawal?

   If you no longer wish to be a member, you can apply for withdrawal via Min anslutning.

   You will be able to withdraw at the earliest on the last day of the month in which we receive your application for withdrawal. If you wish to leave on another date, please send us a message.

5. 5 Do I have to join if I want to apply for benefits?

   You do not need to join Alfa-kassan to apply for benefits. If you are not a member of Alfa-kassan, or of another unemployment insurance fund, you can apply for the basic benefits from us.

6. 6 How do I pay the monthly fee?

   You can choose to pay your monthly fee either by direct debit or by invoice.

7. 7 What happens if I miss paying an invoice?

   If you fail to pay an invoice, you will receive a reminder when the next invoice is sent out.

   If you do not pay your monthly fee in 3 months, you will automatically be withdrawn from us for non-payment. You must pay the monthly fee for all the months you have been a member, including the last 3 months.

8. 8 How do I change to another unemployment insurance fund?

   If you want to change your unemployment insurance fund, you must notify your current unemployment insurance fund of your withdrawal and apply for membership at the new unemployment insurance fund.

   Give notice that you wish to leave your current unemployment insurance fund on the last day of the month and apply to join the new unemployment insurance fund on the first day of the following month. This is to ensure a continuous membership.

9. 9 What is Min anslutning?

   Min anslutning is the e-service for our members. When logged in, you can get information about your membership, see your invoices and paid monthly fees, send messages directly to us, and register for direct debit.
